Who We Are
The Veterans Resource Center (VRC) provides School of Mines veterans with a relaxing place to study or simply connect with other campus veterans. Located on the lower level of the Surbeck Center in the Student Activities area, the VRC is sponsored jointly by the School of Mines and Western Nebraska Community College TRIO Veterans Upward Bound, a program federally funded by the Department of Education.

What We Offer
- tutoring in math and writing
- assistance with job, internship, and scholarship searches/applications
- resume and cover letter writing
- referral services regarding VA benefits, G.I. Bills, and community veterans' organizations
- academic and life skills workshops in areas such as learning styles, test preparation, note taking, time management, stress management, financial literacy, and wellness
- Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, snacks, refrigerator, microwave, pizza oven, toaster oven, popcorn machine, kitchenette, flat-screen cable TV, study tables, couches, recliners, veterans' information board, career information board, scholarship information board, 2 walls of whiteboards

On December 14, 2011, the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology received the highly-coveted Seven Seals Award, recognizing its contributions to the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) volunteer mission. This will be the eighth award given since 2007, the first to an organization. Until now, the award has been bestowed upon seven individuals for their significant contributions and support of the ESGR mission, which is to develop and promote a culture in which all American employers support and value the military service of their employees.
